We currently have an opportunity for a Sous Chef to join our team and must be prepared to work as part of a very busy team on the island of Nusa Lembongan which is 30 minutes by fast boat from Sanur on Bali

Role Responsibility:

Maintain standard of food quality and production. Train, motivate and supervise kitchen brigade. Control food costs and coordinate the food service operation in line with demand. In achieving the above the Sous Chef liaises very closely with Head Chef.

The Sous Chef will be required to conduct their duties in a courteous, safe and efficient manner, in accordance with the restaurant’s policies and procedures, ensuring that a high level of service is maintained.

Assist with the preparation and planning of meal designs.

Provide support to junior kitchen employees with various tasks including line cooking, food preparation, and dish plating.

Create schedules for kitchen employees and evaluate their performance.

Adhere to and implement sanitation regulations and safety regulations.

Manage the kitchen team in the Head Chef's absence.

Ensure efficient, cost-effective operation and profitability of food production.

Supervise and inspect all preparation and cooking equipment on a regular basis to ensure that they are kept clean, sanitary, and in perfect operating order.

Ensure that food products, presentation, and plating are of the highest quality, and are prepared to serve in a timely manner.

And any other duties that may be required from time to time for the general smooth running of the business.

Attention to detail, creative, resourceful and a problem solver.

Responsible self-starter, capable of handling multi-faceted tasks and of working under pressure.

Team player, who values teamwork, has good team building skills and is able to communicate effectively with all levels of employees.

Understands and respects local cultural, able to adapt to changing environment.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in culinary science or relevant field.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of cooking methods, kitchen equipment, and best practices.
  • Good understanding of MS Office and restaurant software programs.
  • Teamwork-oriented with outstanding leadership abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
